Perhaps the best known restaurant in central Bordeaux. Classic, traditional great quality old fashioned cooking from the South west of France. The fireplace welcomes you in to the restaurant, where meat is cooked in the most natural environment.
A very extensive wine list covering all the classic Bordeaux appellations as well as regional south west France.
The restaurant is situated a little distance away from the centre of Bordeaux (ie Grand Theatre/Hotel Regent). Rue Porte de la Monnaie is a small road leading off from the quayside.
Lunch set menu from €18 (not Sat, Sun or Public Hols)
Dinner 'Classic' menu from €60 (open every evening)

An excellent smart brasserie in the central part of Bordeaux. Fantastic selection of local oysters, local meats and incredible cured hams. A very convivial place (the seats are quite close together), which creates a great atmosphere.Extensive wine list featuring some of the best Bordeaux as well as regional southwest.
Easy to walk to from the Hotel Regent or Hotel Normandie. (5 minute walk)
Single 'plat' at lunch either €9 or €12.
Evening menu from €24
NB They advertise that they are open every day, but they have been known to be closed on Sunday evenings....so worth checking.
3. Brasserie L' Orleans, 36 allees d'Orleans,33000 Bordeaux tel: 0556005006
My favourite old style French brasserie. Very close to the Grand Theatre, Hotel Regent and Hotel Normandie. A proper old style (established in 1942) restaurant. Long banquette seats and a small covered terrace. Traditional Bordeaux food...ie oysters, great entrecote and lamb, foie gras and grilled meats. Extensive and reasonable (relatively) priced wine list. I have enjoyed some Angludet 2000 @€40 and some Domaine de Chevalier 2002 @€60 recently.
They are open 7 days a week lunchtime and evening.
